As part of their Educational tour, students from China of different schools : No.9 Nanjing Secondary School and Sichuan Shang Dong Primary School , visited TSI to experience a different learning environment. Our language teachers conducted Enrichment programmes such as Creative Writing and Speech and Drama classes to equip the students with necessary language skills and make them pro-active in the use of English. During the sessions, students actively participated in role plays and other assigned tasks. Overall the students enjoyed our Enrichment courses.
Robotics Workshops were conducted for students from Nanjing YonXun Education Group , during the month of July. Our trainer Mr Jacob, demonstrated the way various types of robots are made using LEGO, LEGO – EV3 Mindstorms.
The students work in groups and learnt how to express themselves and listen and relate to others. This workshop provided students with a base to robotics. Overall it was an enriching experience and the sessions were appreciated by all the students involved.
On 16th July, Fire Safety drill was conducted for the occupants of The Herencia. The purpose of a total building fire drill is to allow people in the building to hear what the fire alarm tone sounds like, learn where the exits/ stairs are located and how to exit safely in the event of fire, smoke or other emergencies.
TSI staff and students along with other building occupants participated in the evacuating procedures. The exercise was a great success.
Anything is possible if you plan early and stay focused
Students from Harbin, Li Shui in China visited TSI to embrace a different learning experience and exposure with our AEIS Secondary 1 /2 students. During the three weeks attachment, they have assimilated well in TSI and followed our teaching practices.
They had the opportunity to mingle with our pupils and participated in all class activities during lessons, working and interacting together in teams.
This involvement enabled pupils to sharpen their social awareness, recognize and appreciate diversity. Our students welcomed and appreciated such Immersion Programmes and look forward for more to come.
3rd July 2019, was a special day for our Academic Head of Department, Miss Winnie, who celebrated her birthday.
TSI wishes her good luck and hope this special day will fill up her heart with joy and blessings.
On 23rd July 2019, our students from the Preparatory Course for Singapore- Cambridge General Certificate in Education (Ordinary Level) finally completed their GCE ‘O’ Level Chinese Language assessment which consisted of
Paper 1 – Writing (30 %)
Paper 2 – Reading Comprehension (35%) and
Paper 3 – Oral Communication and Listening (35%).
The students would be sitting for their English Language (1128) Oral Communication component in the month of August while keeping themselves busy with their preparation for the assessment of the other core and elective subjects. We wish the best to all our GCE ‘O’ Level candidates.
