Preparatory Course for Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced

Course Information:

The main objective of this programme is to prepare both local and foreign students to sit for:
  • the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Level 1 & 2 Tests;
  • the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Level 3 & 4 Tests; or
  • the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Level 5 & 6 Tests
The above mentioned Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi tests are designed by Hanban (Chinese Language Council International), China’s Chinese language authority which allows students to benchmark their Chinese language proficiency for self-improvement, study opportunities in China and career enhancement.

The course will focus on increasing students’ accuracy and general competence in Chinese Language and provides training in the key language vocabulary and skills needed for success completion of the above tests through lessons designed to cover the areas of Listening, Reading and Writing

Course Admission Requirements:

For Preparatory Course for Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Beginner:
Students should be at least 5 years old.

For Preparatory Course for Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Intermediate:
Students should be at least 11 years old.
Students will be required to attain 50% or more for Touchstone International Institute Diagnostic Test (Lower Level).

For Preparatory Course for Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Advanced:
Students should be at least 14 years old.
Students will be required to attain 50% or more for Touchstone International Institute Diagnostic Test (Upper Level).

Mode of Assessment

Internal Assessment:
Quarterly Assessment Test will be conducted.

External Assessment:
Students can register for HSK Test administered by Hanban (Chinese Language Council International), China.

Course Completion

Students who have registered for Preparatory Course for Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Beginner may take HSK Test1 or 2 administered by Hanban (Chinese Language Council International), China.

Students who have registered for Preparatory Course for Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Intermediate may take HSK Test3 or 4 administered by Hanban (Chinese Language Council International), China.

Students who have registered for Preparatory Course for Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Advanced may take HSK Test5 or 6 administered by Hanban (Chinese Language Council International), China.

Requirement for Course Completion

Students must achieve at least 90% attendance and not be absent for more than 7 consecutive days without valid reason.

Type of Qualification

Hanyu Shuiping Test result slip will be issued by Hanban (Chinese Language Council International) China, after successful completion of the HSK Test.



The 3 (three) types of fee chargeable by TSI are:

Application Fee
A one-time application fee is non – refundable.
Payment modes: Cash, cheque, remittance/telegraphic transfer, bank draft, cashier’s order.
Payable to: Touchstone International Institute Pte Ltd.


Course Fees
The Committee for Private Education (CPE) has regulatory provisions and requirements to protect course fees that are payable by students who are enrolled in a private education institution (PEI). TSI subscribes to these regulatory provisions and requirements in its collection of fees from full-time students.

The course fee is refundable and will be subjected to TSI refund policy.
