Preparatory Course First Certificate in English (FCE), Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) or Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)

Course Information:

The main objective of this programme is to prepare students for the:
  • First Certificate in English (FCE);
  • Certificate in Advanced English (CAE); or
  • Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) managed by Cambridge English Language Assessment
The course will focus on increasing the student’s accuracy and general competence in English and provides training in the key language and skills needed for success completion of the above examinations through modules designed to cover the areas of Writing, Reading, Listening and Reading.

Course Admission Requirements:

Preparatory Course for First Certificate in English (FCE):
Students should be at least 15 years old.
Students will be required to attain 50% or more for Touchstone International Institute Upper Primary English Placement Exam.

Preparatory Course for Certificate in Advanced English (CAE):
Students should be at least 15 years old.
Students will be required to attain 40% or more for Touchstone International Institute Lower Secondary English Placement Exam.

Preparatory Course for Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE):
Students should be at least 15 years old.
Students will be required to attain 50% or more for Touchstone International Institute Lower Secondary English Placement Exam.

Mode of Assessment

Internal Assessment:
Quarterly Assessment Test will be conducted.

External Assessment:
Students can register for Cambridge English language examinations conducted by British Council, Singapore.

Course Completion

For students who have registered for Preparatory Course for First Certificate in English (FCE), they may take Cambridge English Language examinations for First Certificate of Education (FCE) conducted by British Council, Singapore.

For students who have registered for Preparatory Course for Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), they may take Cambridge English Language examinations for Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) conducted by British Council, Singapore.

For students who have registered for Preparatory Course for Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE), they may take Cambridge English Language examinations for Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) conducted by British Council, Singapore.

Requirement for Course Completion

Students must achieve at least 90% attendance and not be absent for more than 7 consecutive days without valid reason.

Type of Qualification

Cambridge English Language certification will be issued by the University of Cambridge International Examinations, after successful completion of the Cambridge English Language Examinations.

The 3 (three) types of fee chargeable by TSI are:

Application Fee
A one-time application fee is non – refundable.
Payment modes: Cash, cheque, remittance/telegraphic transfer, bank draft, cashier’s order.
Payable to: Touchstone International Institute Pte Ltd.

Course Fees
The Committee for Private Education (CPE) has regulatory provisions and requirements to protect course fees that are payable by students who are enrolled in a private education institution (PEI).
TSI subscribes to these regulatory provisions and requirements in its collection of fees from full-time students.

The course fee is refundable and will be subjected to TSI refund policy.
